Oak-Mitsui
Technologies, LLC (a subsidiary of Mitsui
Kinzoku of Japan) and Shocking Technologies have
signed a letter of intent to work together to
bring Shocking’s X static™ Voltage Switchable
Dielectric material to market, including
Sanmina-SCI eESD™ technology. Shocking and its
partner, Sanmina-SCI, have demonstrated 30,000
Volt protection levels in memory devices
utilizing embedded ESD (eESD™). The voltage
switchable polymer technology provides a less
than 25 micron thick layer in printed circuit
boards that protects 100% of the IO’s on the
board when designed and optimized with eESD™.
The material is especially well suited for cell
phones and other handheld devices, where it not
only improves reliability but decreases cost and
saves space.

Shocking anticipates that the
material will be available in sample quantities
in the 3rd quarter of 2008 and in full
production quantities later this
year.

APEX at Sanmina-SCI booth number 2626 and at Oak
Mitsui booth number 1224. |
