SAN JOSE, Calif. – Jan. 26, 2009
Shocking Technologies, Inc., the leader in the development and application of Voltage Switchable Dielectric™ (VSD™) materials, will showcase its XStaticTM ESD solution for the PWB and package substrate industry at the Nepcon World Japan 2009 Trade Show and Conference, January 28th–30th. Shocking Technologies will present with its development partner, Samina –SCI, at booth – West 2-36 at the Tokyo Big Sight Convention Center, Tokyo, Japan.
Shocking Technologies is also pleased to announce the launch of its Japanese website. Visitors to the Shocking Technologies website are presented with the option of viewing the site in the language of their choice – English or Japanese.
Shocking Technologies’ XStaticTM VSD (voltage switchable dielectric) is a polymer nano-composite that protects electronic circuitry by switching virtually instantaneously between dielectric and conductive states. A thin, planar XStaticTM layer is located adjacent to the ground plane in PCB or substrate applications. At the onset of an ESD event, the XStaticTM material temporarily switches from insulating to conductive state. It clamps voltage to a safe level and shunts excess current to ground thereby protecting all circuits/components.
When properly designed into a PCB or substrate, Shocking’s XStatic™ VSD™ material has demonstrated protection levels exceeding 30KV for both contact and air discharge modes. XStatic™ VSD™ material not only provides superior ESD protection levels, but when properly implemented, can protect 100% of the components on a PCB or the I/Os in a semiconductor package.
Although memory and mobile phones represent the initial applications for VSD™ materials, the technology is applicable to almost any type of electronic product.
